I had a great time traveling to Swain NY for their New Years Eve party. Western NY is not exactly known for their epic pow, but I was pleasantly surprised to see that they had received a large dumping of the white stuff the day before. Needless to say, the conditions were excellent! There were untouched pow stashes all over the mountain and I enjoyed it so much I almost forgot why I was there: to help set up a rail jam for the party.
After the mountain closed and the temperature began dropping, we dragged out a few of Swains rails and boxes and attempted to move them over to the jam area. Tired of using manual labor, we decided to enlist the help of the GnarBear Audi S4 to pull the rails up the mountain.
After some digging and grooming, the rails were installed and ready for the next day. The rails we used were a small double barrel shotgun, a C box, a rainbow box and a small flat box.
The next night we had about 20 skiiers and riders and a bunch of onlookers. At around 8pm we got going. The contestants were all cool and had a great time. The owner of the mountains son (must’ve been 12 years old!) even entered and rocked out on the rainbow rail.
